Commonly known as a lovely landscape tree. Grafted males are what you typically see planted for ornamental purposes, but the females actually have a tasty and nutritious nut.  The reason landscapers only plant the males is that the female’s seed has an outer covering (the “fruit”) that smells terrible and is a skin irritant.  But when cleaned and roasted the seeds are easy to crack and taste great.  You need a male to pollinate the female trees if you want nuts.

Beautiful dwarf specimen tree.  Leaves are larger and more scalloped, giving them a butterfly look.  Tight, dense growing habit.  Slow growing to 8-10′ high by 6-10′ wide.  Zones 3-9

Popular specimen tree.  We are not selling this tree as ‘Gold Spire’ because it is a trademarked name, but if you want to see what it looks like you can google that name 😉  This tree has a unique tall, narrow pyramidal form, with a tight, dense growth habit. 10-12’ tall x 3-4 1/2′ wide in 10 years.  Zones 4-9.
